Learn to Sail at Royal Geelong Yacht Club
Get out on the water and discover the fun of sailing at Royal Geelong Yacht Club.
Our Learn to Sail programs offer something for kids, teens and adults, with practical, hands-on experiences designed to build skills, confidence and a love of being on the water.
Programs run throughout the year, including school holiday programs and term-based activities, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Tackers | Kids 7-12
Tackers is an introductory, games-based sailing program designed to make learning to sail fun and accessible for kids aged seven to 12.
Developed by Australian Sailing, Tackers combines sailing skills with games and activities, giving kids the chance to learn something new, spend time outdoors and make new friends along the way.
OutThere Sailing | Teens 12-17
OutThere Sailing gives teens the chance to get out on the bay, learn new skills and have fun in a relaxed, non-competitive environment.
No sailing experience is needed. The focus is on building confidence, developing practical sailing skills, meeting other young people and enjoying time on the water.
Adults | Dinghy, Keelboat, Crewing, and Helming experiences available
Adults can learn to sail in a way that suits them, with options to learn in a stable keelboat with a crew or take the controls themselves in a hands-on dinghy.
Both pathways are designed to build skills and confidence step by step, with support from experienced instructors. Not sure where to start? A Discover Sailing session is a great way to try sailing and find the right pathway for you.
School holiday and term programs are available throughout the year.
