{"id":1900,"date":"2013-06-20T10:48:59","date_gmt":"2013-06-20T00:48:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.onlyaustralia.com.au\/?p=1900"},"modified":"2013-06-20T10:51:51","modified_gmt":"2013-06-20T00:51:51","slug":"doncaster-rail-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.onlyoz.com.au\/oa\/melbourne-business\/doncaster-rail-study","title":{"rendered":"Doncaster Rail Study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Did you know there was a Doncaster Rail Study?<\/p>\n<p>The Doncaster Rail Study is an independent investigation into a heavy rail connection from the Melbourne CBD to Doncaster.<\/p>\n<p>The Doncaster Rail Study consists of two phases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phase One will identify and investigate a number of heavy rail options that could connect Melbourne\u2019s CBD to the Doncaster area<\/li>\n<li>Phase Two scope of work will depend on the outcomes of Phase One.\u00a0 It may include more detailed planning on heavy rail options or consider alternative options.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Who is funding and backing the Doncaster Rail Study? \u00a0It sits within the portfolio of work carried out by PTV\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/corp.ptv.vic.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Public Transport Victoria<\/a>) and consists of a partnership of four key engineering firms lead by URS, with a number of supporting sub-contractors including\u00a0AECOM, Aurecon and Sinclair Knight Merz. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.doncasterrailstudy.com\/faqs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Source<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Doncaster Rail Study<\/h2>\n<p>$6.5 million has been allocated to examine a number of options for a high quality heavy rail link for communities within the Manningham, Boroondara, Yarra, Whitehorse, Banyule and<del cite=\"mailto:Amy%20McGuire\" datetime=\"2011-11-14T21:08\"> <\/del>Maroondah municipalities.<\/p>\n<p>Doncaster is an important commercial and civic centre within Melbourne\u2019s North East and the City of Manningham.
