I say this to parents who have not been to a museum for few years. \u00a0Museums have changed a lot. \u00a0Long gone are the boring displays, dust ridden exhibits and endless rows of boring stuff.<\/p>\n<p>You will listen, learn stuff about your city and Australia, laugh and end up thoroughly enjoying the day with your family.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Because museums are designed for family.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll see art, science, history, geography, how stuff works, fauna, bones, transport and much much more..<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll start with the amazing, modern and delightful &#8216;Melbourne Museum.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re members. \u00a0We have a family membership that also gets us into the Immigration Museum and Science Works which for visitors from other states, is a museum about science, heavily biased towards children but interesting for us big kids as well. \u00a0We go to the Melbourne Museum about 3 times a year. \u00a0We make a day of it. \u00a0There is always something new to see plus there are several activity based areas including a playground that keep the kid busy while we big kids site down and rest.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a bonus if there is a major exhbition on, where we get discounted entry to, plus the cafe is a great place for lunch.<\/p>\n<h2>Melbourne Museum<\/h2>\n<p>Situated in Carlton Gardens, Melbourne Museum is an exciting and innovative attraction &#8211; including permanent and touring exhibitions, dynamic performances and events, caf\u00e9s, IMAX Theatre, gift shop, and undercover parking.<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of galleries within the museum, Bunjilaka Gallery, Discovery Centre, Melbourne Exhibit (inc Phar Lap),<\/p>\n<p>Open 7 days a week 10am &#8211; 5pm (Closed Good Friday and Christmas Day)<\/p>\n<p>11 Nicholson St, Carlton | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onlymelbourne.com.au\/melbourne-museum\">Melbourne Museum<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/melbourne.museum.vic.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">melbourne.museum.vic.gov.au<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Perth Museum<\/h2>\n<p>The museum in Perth is the Western Australian Museum housing Western Australia&#8217;s scientific and cultural collection.<\/p>\n<p>Open 7 days a week 10am &#8211; 5pm\u00a0|\u00a0Closed: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year&#8217;s Day and Good Friday<\/p>\n<p>James Street, Perth | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onlyperth.com.au\/45073\/western-australian-museum\">Perth Museum<\/a> |\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/museum.wa.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\">museum.wa.gov.au<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Adelaide Museum<\/h2>\n<p>The South Australian Museum houses over four million objects and specimens.
