The City to Casino Fun Run and Walk is an annual race or walk from Elwick to Wrest Point Casino.
The City to Casino course consists of 11km with a 7km option and a 2.5km for younger participants.
Information:
Start Time- All events will start at 9.00am promptly.
- Get there at least 15 minutes before the start and warm up by jogging and stretching legs, arms and trunk to avoid muscle strain.
- Keep well back from the starting line and move off slowly when the gun is fired.
- Any competitiors under 12 years in the 11km run must start at the rear of the field.
- Walkers may enter the 11km event and must start from the rear of the field.
- The 7km run is provided for the younger runners and those adults not wishing to run the longer distance.
- The 7km recreational walk is not intended for serious competitive walkers, but for those who wish to compete in the City To Casino but do not wish to run.
- The 2.7km is for Primary School Children Only.
- Supervision of young children is the responsibility of the parents / guardians.
Refreshments- Refreshment tables with cups of water will be provided at Cornelian Bay & on Sandy Bay Road Near St. Davids Park.
- Fruit & drinks will be available at the finish of the fun run.
The Finish- Runners finish along the promenade at Wrest Point - entering one of the processing chutes.
- Choose the chute with the fewest competitiors in it.
- At the end of the chute you will be handed a card showing your finishing time taken when you reached the table.
- Move to the next line of tables, handing your card and the bottom of your race number to the officials who will record your time on the tear off part of your race number and keep it.
- You will be given a certificate at this table, Red for 11km, Blue for 7km run & Walk, Green for 2.7km.
- To eliminate congestion at these tables, please continue to move to the area in front of the presentation stage.
- All Cards will be processed by computer, with full results in The Mercury, 19th May 2009.
All finishers under 2 hours will receive a certificate. Certificates will be awarded to all age category winners both male & female. Corporate team participants will be mailed certificates after the event.
11km Fun Run- 1st Male & Female receive $300 Hobart Sport Centre voucher plus $300 cash & the GT Briggs memorial trophy. Donated by Hobart City Council & Glenorchy City Council &a medallion.
- 2nd Male & Female receive $200 Hobart Sports Centre Voucher & a medallion.
- 3rd Male & Female receive $100 Hobart Sports Centre Voucher & a medallion.
7km Fun Run- 1st Male & Female receive $200 Hobart Sports Center Voucher.
- 2nd Male & Female receive $100 Hobart Sports Centre Voucher.
- 3rd Male & Female receive $50 Hobart Sports Centre Voucher.
2.7km Fun Run- 1st Male & Female receive $150 Hobart Sports Center Voucher.
- 2nd Male & Female receive $75 Hobart Sports Centre Voucher.
- 3rd Male & Female receive $30 Hobart Sports Centre Voucher.
Teams- A perpetual trophy for the fastest teams in the 7km and 11km events.
- Two Prizes valued at $500 donated by Veolia Environmental Services, drawn randomly from all registered teams. Prizes consist of a catered lunch for up to 30 people from 4Lunch and a full days corporate massage by Workforce Maintenance. Getaway package for Biggest Heart Award and Most Active Heart Award.
- Best Dressed Red Team, a BBQ pack kindly donated by Wursthaus Kitchen Cambrige.
Spot Prizes
- Spot prizes will be drawn randomly from all finishers in all catagories.
- Winners have to be in attendance
- Ten prizes of $100 Cash
- In each of the 2.7km & 7km secondary school runs, a school will be drawn for $500 worth of sporting equipment from Hobart Sports Centre.
