Australian Age of Dinosaurs

The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum is home to the largest collection of Australian dinosaur fossils in the world.

The Museum is split between three facilities, the Fossil Preparation Laboratory, Collection Room and Dinosaur Canyon.

The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum of Natural History is a prominent science-based not-for-profit museum and major tourist attraction located atop a towering mesa known as The Jump-Up, approximately 24km south-east of Winton in Central West Queensland.

The Museum focuses on preserving Australia's fossil past for future generations to learn from and find inspiration in.

The Museum includes the most productive Fossil Preparation Laboratory in the Southern Hemisphere, the Reception Centre and Collection Room, Dinosaur Canyon - featuring life-sized bronze dinosaur dioramas, the "March of the Titanosaurs" exhibition - housing Australia's best-preserved sauropod tracksite, and the Gondwana Stars Observatory.

The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum is 24km south-east of Winton, a town of 1,000 residents in Outback Queensland, and 600km south-west of Townsville.

From Brisbane: 14 hr 47 min (1,355 km) via Warrego Hwy/A2 and A2 | Map

From Longreach will drive north-west along the Landsborough Highway for 164km before turning left in to Dinosaur Drive. From the highway, it is a further 11km to the Museum on a sealed road.

The Museum is located on top of a large mesa named The Jump-Up and is accessible to all types of cars, vans and coach buses.
