International Tartan Day 2027
We celebrate International Tartan Day each year on the 1st of July.
International Tartan Day
The Date (July 1): Marks the anniversary of the 1782 repeal of the 1747 Act of Proscription, which banned wearing tartan and playing bagpipes in Scotland.
Local Tradition: Promoted in Australia since 1989 by the Scottish Australian Heritage Council to honor Scottish heritage.
Activities: People wear kilts or items of tartan, listen to pipe bands, and enjoy Scottish dancing and food
